On September 1st, my baby man turned three.
THREE.
We started the day off with the opening of the presents. I carried him out of his bedroom into the lounge room where they were waiting and his little body spasmed with excitement when he saw that ride on vintage plane! He was also super excited to get that big wooden fire station. Nearly as excited as I was when I was trying to do a price check on it at the shop and the manager walked past and said I could have $50 off! Yes please!
William is a huge Fireman Sam fan so naturally we went with a Fireman Sam party, complete with homemade fire engine cake and paper chain backdrop!
We ended up with the same colour theme as last years Caillou Party! Next year I hope he picks something green, lol.
The cake is a little bit sloppier than the one I was copying off on the Betty Crocker website, haha. Her piping was so smooth. My piping bag exploded :/ I had to make an emergency one out of a sandwich bag, which actually worked much better!
William said "Wow! Dat's amazing Mummy!" and that's all that matters :)
Once all the kids had arrived, craft was on the menu.
To start we made Dalmatian fire puppies out of styrofoam cups :)
I googled 'Fireman Crafts' and found the instructions for this activity here.
Next up, we made some fire paintings. I just got a bowl each of red, yellow and orange paint (I added water to the paints to make them nice and runny), dipped plastic straws into the paint, dabbed it on to the canvas (I bought a bunch of 3 for $2 packs, score!) and then blew through the straw to spread the paint out.
Charlotte's work of art.

The birthday boy, who had clearly been into the Nutella mini pikelets!
Link your "Wittle People" up to Ashley Sisk's new meme.
Multiple straws for maximum effect.
And yes, William did manage to put the paint end of the straw in his mouth, eww!
Next we played 'Pin the Hat on the Fire Dog'
A lot of cheating went on during this game! Lots of peeking under the blindfold!
Then it was time for the pinata! We've only ever had pinata's with the pull strings, so this was definitely funny to watch!
It took him a few tries before he connected with it!
Charlotte hit it so hard it fell off the string, so in the end I got my Dad to just rip it open and pour it on their heads :D
Time for cake!
I love his face in the top right one, cutting the cate :)
And that was that!
Here is the invitation I made ^. I looked around for inspiration, found some designs I liked, a cool fireman themed verse and settled on this. I got the Fireman Sam image from Fireman Sam Online off a free printable poster, then played around with the fonts :)
I also got the posters I used for the background of the cake table from this site, plus in the party bags I put a colouring sheet and a Fire Safety Checklist also printed from here :) There are a bunch of great printables on the Fireman Sam website, you could make up a whole activity booklet to hand out if you wanted!
Thank you so much for looking at William's party!

Hi there, love all your ideas for the Fireman Sam party. We are doing the same theme for my son's party. He loves Fireman Sam. I just we had more access to it here in the US. Anyway, I am writing to find out if you have a layout design for the fire truck cake. I was planning on making on simliar, bur I need an idea of what size cakes you used and how you cut them. Let me know when you can. Thank you
