We Carved Our First Pumpkin!

Let me start by saying we don't really "do" Halloween in Australia. Which means, we've never carved a Halloween pumpkin before! It's starting to slowly creep in though, every year there seems to be a few more people celebrating but not a whole lot. Last night we had 4 lots of Trick or Treaters, which is the most we've ever had, lol.

So, when I saw that our local supermarket had got in some special Halloween pumpkins, I thought it might be fun to do one with the kids!

Remember, we've never done this before, so no laughing!!
Charlotte loved the scooping out the 'guts' part!

This one made me laugh so hard!

Our VERY rough, kind of lop sided pumpkin =D

Ta-Da!

Charlotte was so proud of it she took it to preschool for show and tell yesterday!

I hope you enjoyed our first attempt! Hopefully we'll be better at it next year haha!

First Day of Early Birds!

On Wednesday Charlotte started her 'Early Birds' program for BIG SCHOOL next year =O Yes, my baby girl is starting Kindergarten in January! (our school year starts after Christmas)

Every Wednesday for the next month, we head to the primary school she'll be attending. The kids go into one set of class rooms and the parents into another for 'parent classes' hehe. We really just learn about what they'll be learning and get advice on preparing them for the start of school.
(Yes, she has bruises all up and down her shins. She only knows one speed - Full Blast. These are mostly from tripping up the back steps, with a bit of trampoline collisioning in there too, lol.)
We're most excited about the final day, that's when we get to buy her little uniform! Yay!
All school's in Australia wear a uniform, which is fine by me, no drama about what to wear every day!

I missed the focus on this one, she kept popping out from either side of the tree at the speed of light haha!

Not wanting to be left out, William had to wear his little back pack too hehe. He hung out with Grandma while we went to school :)

When I was trying to get a photo of Charlotte peeking around the tree he decided to jump in and yell BOO! too :D

Have a great weekend everyone!

Kookaburra Sits on the Electric Wire...

..Jumping up and down with his pants on fire,
Ouch, Kookaburra ouch! Kookaburra
Hot your tail must be!

Haha don't worry, no Kookaburra's were harmed in the making of this photo =D

I've been trying for absolutely ages to get a photo of birds on the power lines...but they're always there when I'm not ready! I was sitting in Mum's front yard with my brother yesterday when Mr Kookaburra flew up and perched on the lines and I managed exactly one shot before he was startled off by a passing car.

I decided to try out Shadow House's Raised Effect Texture on it too, I think I kind of like it :)

In The Clover..

The other day while Charlotte was picking 'treasures' I started taking photos of the flowers in the clover. Some were really big, some were tiny and then I found one that was perfect. Big, bright white and in full bloom, not droopy or wilted or trodden on by Charlotte haha.
Who knew they were so pretty!

I used my Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 for all these shots :)
The settings were: 1/100 f/4.5 ISO200

They look beautiful from above :)

And just as beautiful from the side :)

and then, she {snapped}

I'm really pleased with how they turned out!

Now, I invite you all to "LOL" at me for Faith's Simplicity challenge this week =D

You see, in my head, I'd said "Let's all pull a funny face!"but, it turns out my family are not all mind readers so we ended up with a super cute photo of my little family...ruined by silly old Mummy LOL. I really hate this photo of me, I look like a hippo or a member of Kiss haha.

We're all wearing the spectacular crowns that Charlotte fashioned for us out of paper, pom poms, feathers and stars :) I think they're AWESOME!

Thanks for stopping by!!
