We've Almost Made It..

....to two years breastfeeding :)

Tomorrow my baby boy will be a big two year old! And he's still breastfeeding, only at night and occasionally through the day if he's upset (he's been a bit sick this week which is when I managed to snap this picture) but we've made the two year mark, just like I did with his big sister. Probably the only area of parenting where I've earned a gold star LOL, the rest I think I'm failing miserably at ;D I'm very lucky to have been able to breastfeed for so long :)
I don't think we'll be going much longer than this so I really wanted to get a final breastfeeding picture :)

Expect lots of birthday pictures to come! I'll be busy making a Bob the Builder cake today for tomorrow then we're having a Caillou themed party for him on Saturday, can't wait!

Thanks for stopping by :)

  1. Wow. I was lucky to get to 9 months with little man. And may I ask however did you manage to snap such a beautiful shot while nursing?

  3. Good for you momma! Way to go! I made it to 13 months with my little one...she self weaned and REFUSED to continue when she decided she was done. I'm just happy we made it past a year!

  7. Oh my word, I thought he was sucking at his thumb when I saw the little picture on another blog, but what a wonderful surprise! I LOVE this picture!

    I wish I had such artful pictures of L nursing.{We are going on 5 years, believe it or not. Can't believe it either, LOL!}

Congrats on making it to 2, that is awesome! I hope you will link up on my blog - I'm known as a bit of a breastfeeding advocate :)

  8. SO sweet!! I nursed Josiah past two - I was really glad to nurse that long, but weaning was a little more difficult that time.

  10. I love it! A beautiful photo!

I struggled so much with nursing in the beginning with both of mine. My oldest was born with a cyst under his tongue, which made his tongue mis-shaped and my youngest wouldn't latch right. We stuck with it and I breastfed them both until they were 2 as well!

I have a blog devoted to nursing and babyhood:

  11. I too love this photo. Some would take offense but this was tastefully done and for those of us who have nursed (I am on my third and last baby!) we understand this very wonderful, special beyond words experience with our little ones. I nursed both of my older boys until they were two so we will see how this goes.

  14. What a wonderful gift to give your child! I was judged with my first child and felt pressure to give up at nearly two years with my daughter! So the second time around I ignored all advice and did what I felt was right!

My son naturally weaned himself at 2 1/2 years and I felt it was the most beautiful gift and start to life that I could give him!

I do miss that bond that you get when feeding but I feel very fortunate to still get amazing cuddles and for that I am one very lucky mummy!

    Amazing photo by the way!

  15. This is so beautiful! Makes me wish I'd taken some beautiful nursing pictures, too. Kudos for keeping at it this long. :) I nursed J for 18 months and Z till she was 3 years and 8 months. I'm so glad I did, even though I'd wanted to stop sooner, but she just wasn't ready to wean. She finally made good on her promise to stop the day before she started kindergarten. =D

  16. Beautiful. And I'm still trying to figure out how you got the angle so perfect and a lot less aerial than most breastfeeding shots...visiting from WW Linky...

  18. Michelle, it is absolutely amazing you made it to 2! You must be soooo sooo proud of yourself!
I really hate that currently nursing past 1 is considered weird or shameful. Our moms all breastfeed till 2 and past and that was the norm. I really hope this norm comes back.
And I will definitely be breastfeeding for as long as possible- I hope I can make it to 2 like you!
