Big W Christmas Project

I was recently lucky enough to be chosen to participate in a Big W Christmas Project through Social Soup!
Big W generously gave me a $50 gift card to spend in store on some Christmassy goodness, FUN!

Charlotte with our Big W Inspiration Cards and our gift card.
(Don't ask about the outfit, LOL)

William excitedly helping me choose what to buy in Big W

Our haul!!
Bon Bons ($5 filled with cute colourful kiddies trinkets!)
Christmas Stationary Kits
Chocolate christmas coins
Christmas Stickers
Christmas movies!!! (The Grinch is a must have!)

One of the best parts of the project was being able to buy a bunch of cheap christmas bits and bobs for our Elf on the Shelf 'Sparkle Toes' to bring!
Here she is dressed as a Pirate, bringing silver christmas dollars for the kids!
(With a note telling them if they don't tidy their rooms they'll have to walk the plank!)

She brought them a copy of The Grinch, a favourite Christmas movie in this house!
PLUS it came with 4 BONUS MOVIES!
Thanks Big W ;)

Little christmas stationary sets, perfect to help them write their wish lists for Santa ;)

We haven't used all our goodies yet, but we've had so much fun so far!
Thanks Big W!!

**Big W gave me a $50 voucher to spend but all opinions are my own, I love Big W and shop there often**

Katy Perry 'Roar' Cake

As we near the end of our countdown to the Katy Perry concert (1 more sleep, woo!) I realised I hadn't shared Charlotte's Katy Perry "Roar" cake I made for her last birthday!

Obviously I couldn't find a Katy Perry doll anywhere so I used Snow White instead!
I brushed out the stiff, curled under hair til it looked more like a longer, layered hairstyle.
We bought some plastic flowers and greenery, cut them up and stuck them into the icing around the top and bottom of the cake and drizzled some green icing down from the top like vines.
I thought it would be easy to find a leopard print Barbie top, but no, nothing! So I bought some leopard print ribbon and tied it around the doll to form a makeshift top.

I added some little purple flowers to her hair and some sugar jungle animals around the bottom.
Too easy!

She was pretty pleased with her Katy Perry Roar cake!

Top Gun Style - William is 5

William's birthday party was supposed to be at our local miniature train's, we'd booked out the special party area, I'd made a special Thomas cake and lots of yummy food. So naturally it decide to pour with rain and the trains were cancelled :/
We did a mad ring around and managed to move the party to a nearby club with an indoor play area. The kids still had a blast but with all the rushing around I didn't get many photos.
So instead I decided to take some photos of William in his cool new threads in celebration of turning FIVE!

I also asked him the '20 Birthday Questions' that we've done every year since he turned 3. The answers are all his own ;)

I couldn't leave this Top Gun shirt in the store once I'd seen it. Especially when they had a promotion running for $5 sunglasses with any purchase!

He's such a funny little character :)

I was allowed absolutely no input into his his poses, they're all his doing!

The one on the right is his 'meditating pose' haha

In case you're interested the shirt is from Cotton On Kids and you can buy it HERE.

Happy Birthday gorgeous boy xx

William's Orca Cake

I have an Orca obsessed little boy. So naturally, for his birthday dinner I made an Orca cake :)

Like all the cakes I make, this one was super quick and easy but still got the "WOW MUM!" when it was finished :)
It's just 4 thin circle cakes (Green's Butter Cake Mix) stacked on top of each other, smothered in blue frosting (we're not fans of fondant in this house, yuck!) and decorated with m&m's. I bought the Vanilla Milkshake flavoured m&m's because they come in that really pretty light blue, white and brown.
Then I put a plastic Orca on top, DONE!

He was pretty chuffed with it ;)

I didn't take my camera with me, so excuse the phone photos :)

The inside of the cake was filled with m&m's too. This was a last minute decision so it's a bit sloppy, ha! I just used a glass to cut a hole out of the two middle cakes, poured in the m&m's and then put the final cake on top. The cakes were pretty much fresh out the oven and all fluffy soft, if you want your cake to be all neat and fancy I would probably put it in the fridge/freezer to firm it up a little bit before you make your cut. But I have no patience for that!

I hope you like our Orca cake :)

Happy 5th Birthday William

My baby turns 5 today, so I'm sharing some of my favourite photos of my gorgeous boy.

(In no particular order, because they uploaded all jumbled up and I'm too lazy to sort them out :D)

Happy birthday sweet boy xx
