Quarterly Top 5 {July - September}

Oh my goodness, another 3 months has passed already! This year is absolutely flying! I can't believe my baby girl only has one more term of Kindergarten left, crazy.

I'm posting this a little early because in the morning we are off on a little holiday seeing as Charlotte is on school holidays :)

I haven't shared this photo before, as I only took it yesterday with my new Canon 7D and Canon 24-105mm f4 L lens! There's a pretty cool story behind how I ended up with the new gear which I'll share later :)
I'm still figuring out how to use it so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

This is a photo of Charlotte's first time riding her brand new bike with NO TRAINING WHEELS!
You can see more of these pictures HERE.
This was taken at the beach when a leopard seal decided to visit! That was a very rare occurrence and very exciting! You can see pictures of our seal visitor HERE.
This was taken a few weeks ago at The Museum of Fire (pictures HERE.) We took William there as a treat for his 3rd birthday, he's obsessed with Fireman Sam and fire engines :)
My little ham ;D

I'm sneaking this extra shot in here, it's not often I get a nice photo of my babies together!

Thanks for stopping by! I can't wait to see everyone's Top 5!

Spring Waratahs

Keeping it short and sweet today!

But first, look ^^ up there ^^ I gave my blog a little makeover! Do you like it?

These were taken last weekend up the mountain here, we went up to see if any spring wildflowers were blooming yet and found some big beautiful waratahs :)

I love his little sniffing face, lol.

Museum of Fire - Penrith NSW

If you stopped by last week, you already know that we celebrated William's 3rd birthday and had a Fireman Sam themed party :)
As an extra treat, the next day we drove out to Penrith (nearly 2 hours away!) to visit the Museum of Fire. Charlotte is also a huge Fireman Sam fan so I thought it would be a fun day out. It also happened to be Fathers Day, so it was nice to do something just the 4 of us.

First I want to share William's 3rd birthday 20 Questions! I asked Charlotte the same questions on her 5th birthday. The answers are all his, lol.

I love how he says 'Newsmeum' hehe. He obviously enjoyed the day!

They had the most awesome fire engine themed playground outside, the kids had an absolute blast on the equipment!

and  then, she {snapped}

They were both so brave and climber right out to the end.

I kept trying to get a picture of them sliding together but somebody kept shooting down before her little brother got to the top ;)

Such concentration!

Very cool slide!
William took a bit of a tumble down the ladder up to the top of one of the structures, he landed with a leg either side of a rung, ouch! Then the poor thing did it again!
He was screaming "Again! Again! Again! My bottom is hurt again!" :(
One of the fireman must have seen what happened because he came running over with an ice block to make him better. And one for big sister too of course!
I love this picture of my babies :)

I had a terrible time with red colour casts on everything from the plastic fire hats!

HA!

Of course we actually did stuff IN the museum as well, lol but it was a lot harder to get pictures in there because there wasn't much to bounce my flash off!
They had the best time in the kids area! There were all sorts of activities, fire engines to climb in and even gear to try on. Plus Fireman Sam was playing on the TV!
HOw cute are my kids, they wore their own little fire hats and bought all their Fireman Sam toys in with them :)

All in all it was a great day, definitely worth the drive out there! (Except for maybe William's "Where is da place? Where is da place? Where is da place? hehe)

Better in BulkThanks for stopping by!

William's Fireman Sam Party!

On September 1st, my baby man turned three.
THREE.

We started the day off with the opening of the presents. I carried him out of his bedroom into the lounge room where they were waiting and his little body spasmed with excitement when he saw that ride on vintage plane! He was also super excited to get that big wooden fire station. Nearly as excited as I was when I was trying to do a price check on it at the shop and the manager walked past and said I could have $50 off! Yes please!

William is a huge Fireman Sam fan so naturally we went with a Fireman Sam party, complete with homemade fire engine cake and paper chain backdrop!
We ended up with the same colour theme as last years Caillou Party! Next year I hope he picks something green, lol.
The cake is a little bit sloppier than the one I was copying off on the Betty Crocker website, haha. Her piping was so smooth. My piping bag exploded :/ I had to make an emergency one out of a sandwich bag, which actually worked much better!
William said "Wow! Dat's amazing Mummy!" and that's all that matters :)

Once all the kids had arrived, craft was on the menu.
To start we made Dalmatian fire puppies out of styrofoam cups :)

I googled 'Fireman Crafts' and found the instructions for this activity here.

Next up, we made some fire paintings. I just got a bowl each of red, yellow and orange paint (I added water to the paints to make them nice and runny), dipped plastic straws into the paint, dabbed it on to the canvas (I bought a bunch of 3 for $2 packs, score!) and then blew through the straw to spread the paint out.

The birthday boy, who had clearly been into the Nutella mini pikelets!

Multiple straws for maximum effect.
And yes, William did manage to put the paint end of the straw in his mouth, eww!

Next we played 'Pin the Hat on the Fire Dog'
A lot of cheating went on during this game! Lots of peeking under the blindfold!

Then it was time for the pinata! We've only ever had pinata's with the pull strings, so this was definitely funny to watch!

It took him a few tries before he connected with it!

Charlotte hit it so hard it fell off the string, so in the end I got my Dad to just rip it open and pour it on their heads :D

Time for cake!
I love his face in the top right one, cutting the cate :)
And that was that!

the long road
Here is the invitation I made ^. I looked around for inspiration, found some designs I liked, a cool fireman themed verse and settled on this. I got the Fireman Sam image from Fireman Sam Online off a free printable poster, then played around with the fonts :)

I also got the posters I used for the background of the cake table from this site, plus in the party bags I put a colouring sheet and a Fire Safety Checklist also printed from here :) There are a bunch of great printables on the Fireman Sam website, you could make up a whole activity booklet to hand out if you wanted!

Thank you so much for looking at William's party!
